winter

a day at the harvard museum of natural history (march)

The kiddos and I spent the day monkeying around at Harvard's Museum of Natural History (oh and also learning about the different species on exhibit).

spring break road tripping (outer banks, nc | april)

We spent an unforgettable family vacation at the outer banks with our dear friends the Abel-Spendlove family.  We rented a beautiful house on the beach in Corolla and spent an amazing week enjoying the house (including an epic game of hide-n-seek), playing at the beach, and seeing the local sights (including a jeep tour to see the wild horses...although we saw only one pretty lame horse at the end, that we suspect have been released by the tour company that guarantees a sighting, our tour guide was fabulous and we had a ton of fun).

spring

Just a few pictures from the spring that make me smile.... Kya and Lucas starting our summer crop and Lucas enjoying a spring shower.

movie night (may)

Our first movie night of the season.

a double birthday (june)

How special for Lucas that he shares a birthday with his grandad and when he turned 5 he had a very special birthday... grandad came to visit from Nova Scotia and they celebrated together. Festivities began in the morning when Lucas got his present (his first basketball net) and was so excited he played outside in his underwear, later we went bowling at Flatbreads with the family, and when we got home Lucas and grandad had another surprise.... a double rainbow!  Later in the week Lucas had a wild time with his friends at his safari themed birthday.

mount washington escape (july)

Aunty Shannon was visiting from Dubai and we were having a heat wave with temperatures above 100 degrees in Boston. Lewis did an internet search to see where it was the coolest weather around us... discovered that it was at the top of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire... so we packed up the car with the kids and drove three plus hours to the summit of Mt. Washington (1,917M).... where it was cold and windy at the top!

a day at the beach (august)

Great company, fabulous weather, a seal, a bonfire, marshmallows, and great food all made for a beautiful day at the beach in Gloucester.... thanks to our hosts (and dear friends) the Hurley/Kroom family.

birthday camping in the white mountains, nh (august)

How would Lew choose to spend his 38th birthday? Camping at Glen Ellis campground in the White Mountains, hiking the Arethusa Falls, and top it off with our first visit to Story Land and birthday dinner at the Red Parka!  Even though Lew is nearing 40, he's such a big kid, and one of the reasons we love him so dearly.

last day of summer break (september)

For the last day before the kiddos went back to school I took the kids to the deCordova museum in Lincoln, MA.  It was a beautiful day to walk through the sculpture park and have a picnic on the rooftop of the museum.

back to school

A few shots from Kya's first day of 4th grade and Lucas' first day of kindergarten.

glamping with friends in saco, me (october)

What a fabulous way to spend the last days of summer....  staying up late by the fire, massive chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, running along the boardwalk and beach at Old Orchard beach, getting over-stimulated at the beach arcade, swimming at the pool, and riding go-carts around the campground.  These are the days our kids will remember....

misc activities

basketball, ballet, baseball, soccer, piano....

halloween

Pictures from West Medford's business trick-or-treat, pumpkin carving with dear friends, and Halloween night trick-or-treat around the hood.

kya's spa birthday party (november)

Kya had a neon-rainbow themed spa birthday party for her 9th birthday... complete with homemade spa treatments (facials, scrubs, and lip glosses that we made together pre-party).  The girls had a blast making makeup bags with duct tape; getting facials, manicures, and pedicures (with help from my dear friend Jocelyn); and eating cake can other goodies.  The girls were so much fun and I feel so grateful that Kya is growing up with such wonderful circle of friends.
